This is not a particularly good photo of a storm. But it is very unusual. The lightning at the top of the storm is blue! I had never seen it before I took this photo and haven't seen it since. This is the photo that was taken outside Western Australia. The storm was near Darwin in the Northern Territory. It really poured with rain later that night. After consulting with people who know these things. I have been told this is "probably" a picture of a blue jet. (It seems that no-one is going to be sure. ) Other explanations have postulated that it is of an event that currently does not fall under any category of known phenomena. The answer?. I don't know.
