Big Strike

When I took this photo originally it had wires across the photo that
I removed. The reason I did this is because they really detracted
from what the photo was about

The storm is 30 to 40 kilometres away and the strike touches the
ground about 10 kilometres in front of it.

This is a very unusual strike. More commonly, if lightning leaves
the storm, it will travel down the side of the main cell. This one travels
well away from it and through the new developing storm in front of it.
